Alexandra Maria Lara, a Romanian and German actress working in TV and film is well known for movies like Rush and Downfall Youth Without Youth Control. Born the only child to Romanian actors Valentin Platareu, Alexandra started her professional career in the show business at an early age. When she reached the age of sixteen, she had secured the leading roles in numerous TV dramas. After her critically acclaimed role in the TV film Der Tunnel, Alexandra went on to play other noteworthy parts, including Adolf Hitler's secretary Traudljunge on Downfall. Downfall was nominated for an Oscar and received critical and commercial great success. The Reader is another Oscar nominated movie featuring this actress. Alexandra has been involved in many important projects both locally as well as internationally. These comprise British biographical film Control as well as The Dust of Time as along with the French historical miniseries Napoleon. In addition, she has been a juror at the Transylvania International Film Festival as well as at the Cannes Film Festival.
